Practical Guide to Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation: Jonathan S. Steinberg/ Pierre Jais/ Hugh Calkins
Catheter Ablation of Cardiac Arrhythmias:A Practical Approach. Softcover reprint of the original 1st ed. 2006
Interventional Oncology is a fast-growing new field, as well as an emerging specialty. Many minimally-invasive, imaging-guided procedures seem set to replace more traditional open surgical techniques of treating solid tumors in a variety of organs. The aim of this book is to describe new interventional radiological methods in a succinct and practical form. Diagnostic radiological considerations relevant to the selection and follow-up of patients are also covered. The book begins with an overview of the basic principles of current interventional techniques, including thermal ablation, high intensity focused ultrasound, and embolization. Later chapters focus on tumors of the liver, kidney, lung, and bone, placing new interventional techniques in context by referring to the surgical and oncologic methods of treating the same conditions. With an emphasis on best practices, Interventional Oncology: A Practical Guide for the Interventional Radiologist will serve as a definitive guide to practicing physicians involved in this rapidly evolving field.

This book is the experiential results of the research problem entitled ´´Elucidation of the role of progesterone on metabolism, growth, and reproduction in edible freshwater crab, Oziothelphusa senex senex´´. The obtained results are interesting, which indicates the role of vertebrate steroid progesterone in inducing precocious ovarian development in the crab. In addition, it is also found to be involved in the regulation of growth. Based on the obtained results, it is concluded that progesterone is involved in the regulation of reproduction and molting. The obtained results further suggest that the administration of progesterone can be considered as a practical alternative to eyestalk ablation in order to induce reproduction in hatcheries of commercially important crustaceans to promote aquaculture industry.
This book provides a detailed summary of all aspects of cardiac electrophysiology, presented in an easy to use handbook. For each arrhythmia the aetiology, classification, clinical presentation, mechanism, and electrophysiology is set up (including precise set up and ablation parameters) and trouble-shooting are presented and demonstrated using interesting images, fluoroscopy images, ECG´s and electrograms. The overall aim of this book is to provide a logical and practical approach to cardiac arrhythmia management. It acts as a useful resource and, importantly, helps to promote this sub-specialty. This book is aimed at cardiac electrophysiologist´s, fellows, cardiologists, physicians, family practitioners, cardiology trainees, students, allied professionals and nurses. Given its succinct summary of electrophysiology is a useful reference guide for the electrophysiology laboratory. It is aimed at an international audience and provides an important guide for those studying for all heart rhythm exams.
The EHRA Book of Interventional Electrophysiology is the second official textbook of European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA). Using clinical cases to encourage practical learning, this book assists electrophysiologists and device specialists in tackling both common and unusual situations that they may encounter during daily practice. Richly illustrated, and covering electrophysiological procedures for supra-ventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, the book enables specialists to deepen their understanding of complex concepts and techniques. Tracings, covering supra-ventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, are presented with multiple-choice questions to allow readers to hone their skills for interpreting challenging cases and to prepare for the EHRA certification exam in electrophysiology. Cases include Orthodromic AVRT, PV Isolation, VT ablation, and Atypical left atrial flutter to name a few. The EHRA Book of Interventional Electrophysiology is a wide-ranging, practical case-book, written by leading experts in the field and edited by members of the EHRA education committee: an essential companion for electrophysiologists and trainees alike.
Chronic venous disease is a common condition, with a prevalence as high as 50% in industrialized countries worldwide. Of those, about 20-25% of women and 10-15% of men have visible varicose veins. Varicose vein treatment has become an increasingly multidisciplinary field, and one that has seen cutting-edge advances and significant growth. Felipe B. Collares, Salomao Faintuch, and a team of venous disease experts have compiled, Varicose Veins, a concise book that covers the full range of interventional procedures for venous insufficiency. Following introductory chapters on anatomy and pathophysiology, the authors guide readers through the clinical exam, imaging, compression therapy, and various minimally invasive techniques. Highly practical and an affordable alternative to larger published tomes. Key Highlights Step-by-step guide on core venous interventions - from compression therapy to sclerotherapy - ambulatory phlebectomy to endovascular ablation Illustrations delineate anatomy and specific treatment modalities Clinical pearls on patient safety and preventing complications Discussion of emerging endovascular approaches that do not require administration of tumescent anesthesia This handy resource is a must-have for trainees and veteran physicians. The practical and focused layout provides a well-rounded reference for all specialists who perform varicose vein procedures - interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, phlebologists, cardiologists, and dermatologists.
